"South Central Youth & Unity Symbol" - During a major clean up effort of Unity Corps ( and other community groups ) organized to remove the rubble in South Central Los Angeles accumulated as a result of the L.A. riots in 1992, three local youth are photographed moments after painting a unity symbol on the wall of a local neighborhood strip mall that was burned down. Removal and overwriting of gang graffiti with positive messages of unity ( oneness amongst the various ethnic groups of the inner city ) was a common occurrence during this important period of emotional healing in the city.
